On the fifth Submission Series t-shirt, we pay tribute to the first submission technique taught in the Gracie Academy curriculum, the Americana Armlock. Even though this shoulder lock is simple enough to be taught in Lesson 2 of the Gracie Combatives program, for it to be effectively applied against a high-level grappler, it must be practiced and perfected over several years. Whether you're a beginning student looking for a simple submission to add to your arsenal, or you're the UFC light-heavyweight champ, looking to retain your title against Vitor Belfort, the Americana Armlock is one submission you don't want to roll without!
SS 5/10 T-shirt Design Details
Technique: Americana Armlock
Fact: It takes no more than 2 lessons to learn it, but no less than 2 years to master it.
Application: Pin the opponent's wrist to the ground, sneak your other hand under their elbow, secure your own wrist, insert the back hook, slide the hand south while lifting the elbow north.
Note: An Americana Armlock without the back hook is like a Renergy Sandwich without the avocado.
Diagnosis: Complete rotator cuff rupture and possible elbow dislocation.
Recovery Time: No pop, no problem.
Preventative Measures: Thou shalt not let anyone sneak under thy elbow.
Submission Series: 5/10
SS 5/10 Top Secret Technique Video: Top Five Americanas
When you purchase the SS 5/10 t-shirt, you are given instant access to a top secret video entitled "Top Five Americanas." In this detailed instructional video, Ryron and Rener teach you their five favorite advanced Americana Armlock variations beyond those presented in Gracie Combatives. The video includes Ryron's favorite setups from side mount top and a VERY sneaky reverse triangle setup from side mount bottom that Rener uses on much larger opponents. They also include a critical elbow-entry detail that Grandmaster Helio taught to them in his later years - this detail alone is worth the price of the t-shirt! Once you purchase the SS 5/10 t-shirt, you'll get an instant email receipt for your purchase, and at the bottom of that receipt you'll receive special instructions on how to access your secret online instructional video. Bottom line: get the t-shirt and get the Americana Armlock instructional video that can't be accessed, purchased, or viewed in any other way!
Garment Details: 100% soft cotton, slim fit, jumbo front chest print, left shoulder blade print, off-centered lower back print, and specialty ink for soft touch.
