On the eighth Submission Series t-shirt, we pay tribute to one of the most debilitating submissions in the jiu-jitsu arsenal, the kneebar. The like other leg locks, the kneebar is so dangerous that it is often frowned upon when used in training. This technique is first introduced in Lesson 46 of the Blue Belt Stripe 1 curriculum and then the counter is introduced immediately thereafter in Lesson 47, so you know what to do when you get caught. One of the most memorable uses of this technique was when Frank Mir used it to defeat the beast, Brock Lesnar at UFC 81. If you haven't seen the fight, check out the highlights below!
SS 8/10 T-shirt Design Details
Technique: Chave De Joelho
Fact: Attempting a Kneebar on foreign soil will cause turmoil.
Application: Trap the opponent's leg between your legs, secure their heel, and thrust your hips through their knee. Don't stop 'til it pops!
Diagnosis: Hyperextension of the knee, resulting in tear of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).
Recovery Time: The quicker you tap, the sooner you're back.
Preventative Measures: Study lesson 47 of the Blue Belt Stripe 1 course. Basically, get on top and avoid the pop!
Submission Series: 8/10
